Our Stories focuses on three generations of the now Albury-based Rimal and Sapkota families - Nepali-speaking Bhutanese refugees, who shared their experiences of migration through extended oral history interviews which were filmed and photographed.

Museum Collections Officer Sandra Endresz presented the project at the online ceremony, outlining how the exhibition was shaped through close collaboration with the families.

The exhibition featured at the Albury LibraryMuseum from 7 September 2024 to 23 March 2025 and now continues as a permanent online digital exhibition, expanding access to the families’ stories for audiences well beyond the region.

“It was a privilege to work with these families to document and share their stories with our local community and beyond. We are honoured the project has been recognised by one of our peak bodies,” shared Sandra Endresz.

The project was made possible through the generosity of the Rimal and Sapkota families, who opened their homes and entrusted the team with treasured objects and images which trace their journeys and their lives in Albury. The exhibition was developed and project managed by the Albury LibraryMuseum with support from the Albury Wodonga Volunteer Resource Bureau.

Creative partners played a significant role in bringing the material to life. Documentary films were produced by Helen Newman of Nomad Films. Oral histories and still photography were captured by Featherweight Projects. Graphic design was led by Julia Fin of Fin Design and translation services were provided by Kedar Sapkota.

Our Stories was funded by the NSW Government in conjunction with AlburyCity and is also supported by the NSW Government and AlburyCity.

The online exhibition remains available to view at Our Stories | AlburyCity
