Media statement: Rex Airlines future
AlburyCity, like many other councils across Australia, is calling on the Federal Government to ensure regional routes operated by Rex Airlines continue.
We value the relationship with all our airline partners in improving physical connectivity for our community and acknowledge that Rex, in particular, has provided services across the country to many destinations not served by others.
Regional connectivity is incredibly important, and Rex has played a crucial role in facilitating that, including between Albury and Sydney.
We welcomed Rex’s announcement yesterday that regional services will continue and pre-paid tickets will be honoured. We will continue to monitor the situation closely as it evolves, and further information becomes available.
Given the market demand generated by our region, we remain confident that regional services will continue to operate out of Albury.
We hope Rex are able to continue to provide their invaluable services and will work with them in support of services to our region.
