New technology improves crossing safety

Safety has been improved at a busy CBD pedestrian crossing, following the installation of the city's first pedestrian-activated signage system.

15 Oct 2020

The system at the Creek Street crossing automatically activates signage to warn motorists that people are walking across the road.

Completed with the support of Transport for New South Wales, the Creek Street crossing is just the second location in NSW with this kind of signage

Other works at the crossing included a refresh of the existing line marking and new LED lighting to illuminate the crossing.

The works will improve safety on the busy road by raising motorist awareness of pedestrians.

AlburyCity is currently updating the line markings on all of the city’s pedestrian crossings to improve safety for the community.

The works following the recent completion of the Swift Street pedestrian crossing linking the Wilson Street car park and QEII Square.
