Repair work begins on AEC ceiling

Work to repair the ceiling of the Banquet Hall at the Albury Entertainment Centre has begun this week.

04 Jul 2024

The Banquet Hall has been closed to the public since the partial collapse of the ceiling on 5 June.

Following an urgent request-for-quote process, AlburyCity has appointed a local panel contractor to remove and replace the ceiling.

The repair works are due for completion before the end of July 2024, allowing events to resume at the venue in August.

There have been several events booked for the venue, including two debutante balls, that have required alternative arrangements as a result of the ceiling incident.

Albury Entertainment Centre Manager, Brendan Maher, has worked closely with affected hirers to source and secure alternative venues and minimise disruption as much as possible.

Albury Mayor, Kylie King, said it was pleasing to see repairs underway so quickly following the incident.

“Once again, we’re incredibly grateful that no-one was injured as a result of the partial collapse of the ceiling, and it’s great to see that this important community asset will be back to normal operation very soon,” she said.
