Tactile indicators to help vision-impaired
People with a vision impairment will be able to navigate busy pedestrian crossings more safely, thanks to the installation of tactile ground surface indicators.

The indicators, which are raised bumps on the road that show hazard and direction, have been installed into the footpaths adjacent to the Dean/Olive Street intersection.
People with blindness or low vision use the indicators to gain orientation and define potential road hazards, helping them to cross safely.
The works are part of our ongoing program to improve accessibility for all people in the Albury and Lavington CBDs, as well as other high-use pedestrian areas.
More surface indicators will be installed at other crossings as the program continues.
