Cooling towers and warm-water systems
Owners and operators must register regulated cooling towers and warm-water systems with Council and meet maintenance and testing requirements to help control Legionella bacteria.
Poorly maintained systems can spread Legionella bacteria through tiny water droplets. When inhaled, the bacteria can cause Legionnaires’ disease, which can be serious or fatal for people at greater risk.
NSW legislation requires owners and operators to register regulated systems with Council and operate and maintain them in accordance with relevant Australian Standards.
AlburyCity maintains the local register and inspects cooling towers.
